QUADS Project - Men's Dorms
North Charleston, SC
The men's dorms at CSU consist of three sets of buildings known as the
Quads. As you can see in the before pictures, they were very plain in
appearance. Recent renovations at Ashby-Jones and Norris-Wingo Halls
inspired the color scheme for the buildings.
Three colors were selected to emphasize the interior CSU column grids and
fascia/soffits. The doors, windows, handrails and stairs were painted in CSU
Navy blue. By using the new color scheme, depth was given to the building
and the vertical columns emphasized.
On the exterior of the building, the same three color scheme was used.
Vertical columns and horizontal banding was applied to breakup the overall
structure. When looking across the campus from the Quads, the new Science
Building exterior finishes inspired the new look.
When the project is complete, new entrance canopies and courtyards will
invite students into the dorm areas.
