Historic District Home
Summerville, South Carolina
April 2006
This home is located in the historic district of Summerville just one block off
Main Street. The colors selected by the owner’s are very traditional to the
Charleston area: Charleston green shutters and accents on porch area, piazza
blue for the porch ceiling, and traditional white for siding and trim. Porch
floors were painted medium grey.
Semi gloss latex was used for trim. The siding and ceilings are flat latex.
Satin latex was used for the shutters and accents while the porch floors
received gloss enamel.
Significant effort was given to preparing the home for painting. Scraping of old
paint, sanding, spot priming, and caulking is required to ensure the finish
coats would protect and be astatically appealing.
