Charleston Southern University
Library Renovation & Coffee Shop Addition
Spring 2006
The library at CSU was renovated to include the addition of a Java City ™
coffee shop as well as first floor interior modifications. The focus of this
project was to enhance the floor space and study areas for the students
while providing a relaxing location for coffee, pastries, and other
miscellaneous refreshments.
Trident Construction was the general contractor.
Low Country Painting focused on interior painting. The library received
freshly painted walls with accent colors on the columns and focal walls. New
alcoves and private study areas were also painted.
The coffee shop received very vibrant colors (relentless olive, fire brick
red, gold coast, and interactive cream) in an eggshell finish. Ceilings were
painted flat black to allow focus on the specialty lighting, TV monitor,
murals and fireplace. The stained and etched concrete floors helped to
create and inviting and relaxing environment.
